St. David’s Feast / Friday March 1st / Patron Saint of Wales

The Squire’s Pub in Southern Pines, North Carolina, is having a St. David’s Feast, March 1st.  Saint David is the patron Saint of Wales, and tradition is to celebrate with hearty food and drink.  Enjoy one of these Welsh specials:

Friday, March 1st, – Potato Leek Soup, Herb Roasted Leg of Lamb, and Welsh Pot Bread.

Saint David’s Day (Welsh: Dydd Dewi Sant)  falls on the 1st of March each year. The first day of March was chosen in remembrance of the death of Saint David. Tradition holds that he died on that day in 589. The date was declared a national day of celebration within Wales in the 18th century.

St. David’s Day is the kick-off to The Squire’s Pub,  23rd. Annual British Heritage Celebration, now through St. Patick’s Day March 17th.  We’ll be open Sunday March 17th. with our St. Patrick’s Day Celebration!
